How to Treat Insect Bites with Iodine
Many people tend to use vinegar, banana peels, white flower balm and many other so-called natural medicines to treat insect bites. While natural-occurring substances are largely harmless, they cannot disinfect the site of insect bite. They are either very expensive, or not easy to carry around all the time.
What is overlooked is iodine. Iodine can be purchased from drug stores, but iodine is not a synthetic chemical with alot of side effects. Iodine is probably the only inexpensive option which not only reduces the itching sensation around the bite areas, but also kills all the bacteria and virues carried by the biting insects. Believe it or not, iodine has been used by a doctor as a first aid treatment for snake bites. It sounds scary, isn't it?
To treat insect bites, just store bought iodine with crushed chili peppers. Apply the mixture onto the bite sites. Let the mixture sit on the bite areas for a few minutes. In general, five minutes should be enough for the iodine liquid to disinfect the bite sites. If the itching sensation reamins, reapply some more iodine to the bite sites.
Iodine is antimicrobial, while capsaicin in chili peppers is effective in reducing itching and inflammation. Together, the mixture of these two substances becomes an effective medicine against insect bites.
This method should be suitable for pet animals as well. Just CLICK HERE FOR MY ARTICLE ON IODINE TREATMENT OF INSECT BITES .
